Pop Of Health’s 75 Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas for 2018

It’s that time! Can you believe it? This week the turkeys will be roasting, the taters will be mashed and millions of people will wait in horrendously long lines (some as early as Thanksgiving evening) to snag sales and get a jump start on their holiday shopping. While their cortisol goes through the roof on Friday, I wanted to offer you an alternative. I have gathered together seventy-five Emily-approved holiday gifts with a healthy spin, all of which you can shop for from the calm and comfort of your home (if you want to). As is always my mission, these gifts will not only totally wow those on the receiving end, they will also contribute to reducing the waste and chemical toxicity in our homes and environments and will support brands who put your health first. I have grouped them into three buckets: “For the adults” because many of my grown up gifts could be for men or women, “For the kiddos” to include a few health and earth conscious options, and “For the stocking” for some healthy stocking stuffer inspiration (although a lot of these stocking stuffers are on my wish list)!

Before we get after it, there are two statements I wanted to make:

First, I am not sponsored by any products or brands listed below. These are not affiliate links and I make no money off of your purchase except in the case of Beautycounter, for whom most of you know I am a consultant and do make a small commission that I like to use to mail you samples and giveaway free safer and healthy products on my Instagram Page @popofhealth. This is plain and simple authentic recommendations from me to you. Most of the items on the list I either own or have on my own wish list.

And Second, from my heart, I want to tell you no holiday should have you going into debt just to enjoy it. It is this very reason I personally prefer Thanksgiving over Christmas. Just as I actively participate in changing the toxicity of our environment and championing for your health, I also want us all to actively participate in keeping the Holiday Season about family, love, joy and generosity of spirit - not about consumerism, competition, or credit card debt. I have intentionally chosen items at every price point that are thoughtful, healthful and will live on in someones life. Giving one great meaningful gift is just as good if not better than mounds of presents that no one could possibly give their attention to equally. ♥ Let’s begin.

For The Adults

1. Molekule Air Purifier

molekule.jpeg

The air we breathe is equally important as the food we eat and product we put on our bodies. And the Molekule air purifier helps keep your air clean and healthy. Their scientifically-proven nanotechnology outperforms HEPA filters in every category of pollutant from allergens like dust, pollen, and pet dander to microscopic pollutants like mold, viruses, bacteria, and gaseous chemicals. It is insanely quiet and can handle large spaces. Give the gift of clean air to your home or your loved ones this year.

2. Oui Safety Razor

oui-safety-razor.jpg

Disposable razors generate a boatload of unnecessary plastic waste. And no matter what brand you use, those plastic handles just don’t look chic in your shower. Give the gift of a beautiful safety razor like the one from Oui. It comes in a beautiful rose gold for the ladies. (Art of Shaving has a similar style for men.) Plus, safety razors give you a closer, smoother shave and they product very little waste. You simply replace the blade and keep the same beautiful razor displayed proudly.

3. Tribest Personal Glass Blender

5. Recycled Wood Personalized Home Coordinate Sign

personalized sign.jpg

6. Organic Cotton Bath Robe

robe.jpg

I just think this is so cute and cozy. This 100% Organic Cotton Jersey robe has 3/4 length sleeves, and can go from casual to couture whether you are relaxing in the comfort of your own home or lounging beachside. The extra soft jersey knit makes this robe both lightweight and warm and it has an adorable attached belt and hood.

8. Free Standing Pull Up Bar

The pull up is one of the most difficult but important functional movements to master. (Currently one of my goals!) We have this exact pull up bar in our garage. It is incredibly sturdy, easy to set up and can also serve as a weight rack!

9. Pact Organic Cotton Pajamas

pactPJs.jpg

Wearing this exact thermal top with the matching shorts in red as I type this! I LOVE PACT. I have been a fan for years every since I fell in love with their organic cotton undies and shelf bra tank tops (highly recommend for stocking stuffers!!). But their collection as grown to include the coziest pajamas, leggings, tops, hoodies and more. Give the gift of thoughtfully crafted, sustainably sourced coziness and be my PJ twin!

10. Organic Sheets

Every time someone gifts we sheets it is just so appreciated. Who doesn’t need a fresh set of sheets? The majority of Americans are not sleeping on organic cotton sheets and yet they are spending a large portion of their life laying in bed. Gifting a beautiful set of organic sheets will not only decrease your friends’ and family’s toxic exposure but also help decrease demand for the conventional cotton crop that is heavily sprayed with toxic pesticides. I love this set (and ALL of the sets) from Coyuchi for their quality and timeless colors.

11. The Cozy Organic Cotton Men’s Bundle from Coyuchi

Give your man the gift of environmentally friendly coziness with a set of Coyuchi’s softest organic apparel. With this stunning set he can bundle up in organic cotton twill Pajama Pants, their ultimate organic cotton Short Sleeve Tee , and the insanely comfortable Unisex Cloud Brushed Organic Flannel Robe. Again, cotton is heavily sprayed with glyphosate and other toxic pesticides. Protect your health and the environment and gift organic.

productimages-instantawakeningtrio.jpeg

This set is a spa day in a box without the nasty chemicals. I ordered one of these last month and just today re-ordered. I cannot get enough of these eye masks! I cannot get enough of this set. Your friends (and your own skin!) will thank you! (P.S. Use my name at checkout so they know I sent you)

13. Stainless Steel Cookware

allcladstainlesssteel.jpg

The cookware collections in many homes contain nonstick surfaces that release toxins into our food and environment. Stainless steel cookware is a safe and beautiful gift that would be appreciated by anyone. It also gives you the opportunity to show them just how much you care for them and their health as you share with the recipient about why it’s important to use safer cookware. I like this set by All-Clad from Williams Sonoma who is having a sale right now.

14. Balanced Bites Spices

These spices are game changers. They are made by Practical Paleo author, Diane Sanfiippo. They are 100% certified organic and come in HUGE jars that last quite a while. You can gift the entire rainbow collection or purchase in coordinated packs. Some of my favorites include Bagel, Trifecta, Ranch, Super Garlic, Tex Mex and Diner! Many spices are heavily sprayed with toxic chemicals, this is a great way to clean up your spice rack in one fell swoop. Currently on sales with code THANKS20

15. Fresh Set of Quality Knives

Who wouldn’t love a sharp set of brand new knives to display? This is something most of us would like but many would not prioritize - which makes it such a perfect gift. It also encourages at home cooking - have pretty new knives, will cook! We received almost this exact same set from Schmidt Brothers last Christmas. I love the way it displays the knives like art. You have have noticed them in the background of my Instagram Stories over on @popofhealth.

16. Stainless Nesting Measuring Cups & Spoons

17. Succulent in Hanging Pot

Because everyone loves a good succulent and greenery is good for the soul.

18. Chemex Pour Over Coffee Maker

I’ve gifted a number of Chemex coffee makers in my day but never recieved one. Maybe this year! Ditch the plastic brewing systems that leach plastic into your morning brew and get down with the perfect glass 10-cup maker.

19. Joco Reusable Glass Coffee Cup

This is on my list this year. (In Sandstone, please, if anyone in my circle is reading!) It is the perfect size and design and made of the safest materials. Disposable cups are so last year. It is all about saving our environment and limited our toxic exposure this year and these glass coffee cups give us that in style.

20. Mizuba Matcha Green Tea Gift Set

This gift set is perfect so the matcha lover or matcha curious. It includes organic matcha tea, traditional tea bowl and whisk, and preparation guides all in the perfect gift box.

21. Shower Water Filter With Aromatherapy

I just installed these in all of our showers. The chemicals coming in through our shower water can be some of the most dangerous because they enter the shower heated and become airborne allowing them to make their way into your home’s air and into your lungs as you breathe in and out (don’t think any of us are holding our breath while we shower!). These filters come in white and stainless to match your bathroom fixtures and are super easy to install (did it myself). It also comes with a free aromatherapy ring! Safe water should be a right, but since most of ours is contaminated, let us gift safe water instead.

22. Beautycounter Shimmer & Shine Body Set

Just ordered a bunch of these today for my friends and family. They are gorgeous, high quality, and made with safer ingredients. Beautycounter bands over 1,500 chemicals from being used their products, compared to the only 30 banned by the United States government. Whether your friends are health conscious or not, vote with your dollar and gift them safer products this year. This set includes Sugar Body Scrub in Lemongrass, Body Butter in Citrus Mimosa and the AMAZING Glow Shimmer Oil, a luxurious, subtly shimmering dry oil with hydrating jojoba, grapeseed and sesame oils that absorb instantly for a radiant, even glow with just a hint of sheen.

Perfectly packed for holiday gifting and any kind of escape, this kit includes trial-size versions of four men’s skin care and shave essentials—all tucked into a sleek limited-edition Dopp kit - and without any of the nasty ingredients.

24. Donate to Environmental Working Group

Have a friend or loved one impacted by or fiercely passionate about the dangerous chemicals in our food, water, products and environment? Consider making a donation in their name to the Environmental Working Group whose mission it help people live healthier lives in a healthier environment through research, education and advocacy. Or, maybe, consider asking for donations yourself in lieu of gifts.

25. A Doggy! From Bunny’s Buddies

I shared about this incredible nonprofit not long ago on my Instagram page. This husband and wife duo are saving dogs from meat farms in China and Korea, get them the medical attention they need, fly them to the United States and get them into safe loving homes. If you’re considering getting or gifting a puppy this year, consider Bunny’d Buddies first and give a dog the chance to live a long love filled life.

26. No.1 Brightening Facial Oil

This oil changed my skin. It is a daily radiance boost. This citrus-scented facial oil quickly absorbs and penetrates to awaken and replenish skin. Lightweight and silky smooth, it features a proprietary blend of seven natural oils and no crappy chemicals. Give the gift of brighter skin and better beauty. Mention my name at checkout and let them know I sent you.

28. Kettlebell

Another staple in any functional fitness at home gym. Get yourself one to start or a whole set. And this price + Amazon Prime Shipping really can’t be beat.

29. Thrive Market Gift Card or Subscription

So many of you reach out to me and ask for advice for finding organic food items at more affordable prices or in more convenient ways. Thrive Market answers both of those requests! This online market offers your favorite organic and healthy products at major discounts and delivers them to your front door. Give the gift of convenient organic foods with a Thrive gift card or subscription.

30. Glass Swing Top Bottles

Any glass container is a beautiful gift and safe swap from plastic materials. These bottles are ones we love and use often especially when we have guests. You can use them to infuse olive oils or drinks, chill water or store tea and they are beautiful to place along a dining table or buffet for easy self pouring.

31. Glass Juice Jars

The most perfect glass jars for storing and chilling juice - you no longer have to expose your freshly pressed juices to plastic.

32. The Most Adorable Mini Glass Jars

I promise this is my last glass jar on the list. They are too cute and functional not to include though! Get rid of those plastic containers!!

33. Washable Organic Cotton + Wool Blanket

This blanket is on the top of my list this year. I just adore Coyuchi’s products - the materials, the colors and the quality. Made of 70% organic cotton and 30% organic wool it has the softness of cotton and the warmth of wool. Such a good gift.

34. First Light Highlighter Palette

I don’t know which celeb made highlighting all the rage - but here we are and I can’t get enough. I ordered this the moment it was released and have used it every day since. For the makeup lover in your life, give the gift of better beauty. Enter my name at checkout to let them know I sent you.

35. LifeStraw Water Bottle With Built-In Filtration

My husband needs this for when he is on base or deployed. I hate thinking about what is in the water there. This bottle by LifeStraw provides built-in two step filtration on the go.

36. Personalized Ornament

In general I think any ornament is a really wonderful gift. We bring them out each year and one by one as we hang them up can reminisce about the places or people who gave them to us. I guess what I like about them most is that they live on. They aren’t tired of or tossed aside for a new model. Being a military spouse and having moved again this year into a new home, I thought this one was really special. It has a personalized hand painted replica of your recipients home on it. This etsy purveyor, MagicMarkingsArt offers a number of different options besides just new home art.

37. Toaster Oven

I am OBSESSED with toaster ovens. To the point I don’t ever really use my primary oven. First of all, they save a boat load of energy because you’re heating such a smaller space. It is so wasteful for us to heat an entire oven for one sweet potato or one pie even. These Breville Smart Ovens can do it all. I use them for roasting broccoli, making my gluten free toast, getting my husband’s chicken wings extra crispy, melting cheese on top of, well, just about anything! We received our two years ago and have since gifted them several times to loved ones and they never disappoint.

38. Velvet Eyeshadow Pallete in “Classic”

This is my go to eyeshadow pallet for every day and night. The perfect texture, coverage and finish. The perfect assortment of truly classic colors without any of the the nasty ingredients hiding in mainstream eyeshadows. We have to be careful about what we put on or near our eyes. It is a direct access point into our bodies, our mucus membranes and lymphatic system, not to mention the delicate eye itself. Give the gift of safer beauty this year with this perfect pallette. Use my name at check out to let them know I sent you.

39. Organic Towel Set

Similarly to the organic sheets, this is a great gift because its something most of us wont prioritize to buy for ourselves. We are fine with our worn our conventional cotton towels and don’t even realize the joy to be had from super soft pesticide free organic cotton towels. These are the ones we have and love.

40. Milk + Honey Essential Oil Candles

candlemilkandhoney.jpg

When it comes to leaching toxic synthetic fragrance into or homes candles can be one of the worst culprits. These essential oil candles from Milk+Honey are drop dead gorgeous and made with blends of essential oils to keep your home smelling delicious without the toxic fumes.

41. Durherm Portable Infrared Sauna

The power of sweat. Its a beautifully detoxifying thing and unfortunately something many of of aren’t doing enough. I still haven’t pulled the trigger on this sauna but I am hoping Santa will. Infrared saunas specifically can help with stress and anxiety, organ system detoxification, heart conditions, skin conditions, muscle aches, immune system support and even weight loss. There are some more economical options on the market but I want this one because it has some of the lowest EMF reading of those available. To be honest, if we didn’t relocate so often I would probably go for a hard frame one. But this is great if you’re like us or if you just don’t have space for a full time sauna set up.

42. Neato Robot Vacuum

It’s amazing what dog’s can bring and leave in your house. It may look like just dirt and fir but they (and you) are tracking in environmental toxins from outside. Your neighbor’s weed killer, oils, mold, bacteria, etc. I’m acutely aware of this and try as I might to keep the dog hair accumulation under control - but it wasn’t until Neato came along that dog hair maintenance (and hardwood maintenance in general) became a total breeze. Unlike other robot vacuums, Neato has a squared edge on one side that allows him to get into corners and under cabinets and islands insanely well. He runs fairly quietly around your house and at the end returns himself to his charging station and provides you with a map with where he has vacuumed. Yes, we’ve accepted him as a part of our family now and he is a he.

43. Best of Beautycounter Holiday Set

Introduce Beautycounter to the people you love with this set of four best sellers formulated to hydrate, purify, brighten and balance the skin—all sized to tuck easily into your toiletry kit, gym bag or work tote. Best of Beautycounter Set includes: Cleansing Balm, Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion, No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil - four products aI use every single day, all made for high performance with safer ingredients.

44. Rose Quartz Facial Roller

Facial rolling stimulates the lymphatic system, reduces puffiness and fine lines and helps to smooth and detoxify the skin.

45. 100 Natural Cork Foam Roller

All the muscle massaging goodness. None of the nasty chemicals or materials.

46. Experiences

One of my favorite sayings is “collect memories, not things”. If you have all you need and so does your gift recipient, give the gift of experience. This might be a broadway play, tickets to the museum, a cooking class, a garden tour, a class about nutrition that you take together. Or it can cost nothing and come in the form of homemade coupons for Netflix Nights, beach picnics, hiking dates - whatever! No link for this one!

47. NonToxic Yoga Mat from Affirmats

What I love about affirmats, in addition to the fact that their mats are made with a biodegradable jute blend, is that they each have an affirmation on them to remind us we are loved, we are enough, we are strong.

48. Just Ripe Fruit Bowl from Uncommon Goods

This is a last minute add as I received my UG catalog yesterday and this was in it.. I instantly fell in love. This fruit organizer and display rack lets you organize your fruit by ripeness. Ready to head hangs above or rest atop the maple tray, while not-quite-ready fruits stay tucked away in the ventilated glass bowl. It’s brilliant and stylish and made of wood and glass. Officially on my wish list.

For The Kiddos

49. Organic Honeycomb Baby Blanket

I legit want one of these for myself. So soft, so adorable and 100% organic cotton to keep baby’s skin away from pesticide-covered conventional cotton. The colors are so beautifully timeless I hope every little munchkin gets one of these this year.

50. Welcome Baby Gift Set

For the ingredient-conscious new mom or mom-to-be in your life, this set includes a gentle All-Over Wash, a tear-free body and hair cleanser, Soothing Oil, a quick-absorbing skin nourisher, and Daily Protective Balm, which acts as a layer of protection for sensitive, delicate skin. Comes in a beautiful ready-to-wrap box.

51. Beautycounter Splash Time Kids Set

Our little ones’s bodies are extra vulnerable to the chemicals in the products we put on their skin. This is the perfect set to give the mom or kiddos in your life safer bath products and the most adorable hooded towel! This set is out just for the holidays and comes ready-to-gift in a beautiful gift box.

52. Reusable Snack and Sandwich Baggies

The plastic used in most of our sandwich bags can leach chemicals and end up in land fills or in our oceans where the continue to wreak havoc on our environment. As a whole us humans need to consciously reduce our plastic use and this is any easy way to do that. We already reuse the lunch box now lets reuse the sandwich bag. They come in all sorts of cute colors and sizes. Gift these to the kids and use it as an opportunity to educate them about plastic.

53. Uncle Good Wooden Blocks Made With Child-Safe Ink

First I just think these are adorable and nostalgic. But what gets them on the list is they are handcraft in Grand Rapids, Michigan, using wood and materials from around the Great Lakes and they are made with child safe dyes - something a lot us don’t think about but should. I can see these being passed down throughout a family.

54. GreenToys

All of the toys by GreenToys are made from organic materials and 100% recycle plastic from things like milk cartons. Kids toys produce so much plastic and waste every holiday season, consider going with equally awesome play sets that are making a positive impact on our environment.

For The Stocking

55. Pact Organic Holiday Socks For The Whole Family

We buy these every single year. Pact Organic’s organic cotton apparel is all amazing but their holiday gift socks are extra cozy, extra soft and extra cute, making them the perfect stocking stuffer for every member of the family. You can buy this bundle and save or buy individually. They would look adorable with the organic PJ’s I shared earlier.

56. Rose Gold Stainless Steel Straws

The use and abuse of plastic is wreaking havoc on our health and especially our environment. Ditch the plastic straws and sippy pretty with these beauties from Ever Eco. (Same straws pictured on my instagram in my celery juice. You’re welcome!)

57. Beautycounter Mini Lipgloss Vault

Drop some safer beauty into every stocking this year with just one purchase. This mini lipgloss vault from BeautyCounter is out just for the Holiday season. During their sale this week, each gloss comes to less than $8 making it the perfect stocking stuffer or teacher gift. Break up the set or gift the whole vault - the choice is yours!

58. NutPods Dairy-Free Holiday Coffee Creamers

You know I love NutPods coffee creamers. I’ve been sharing my recipes using the Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Mocha all month. Because these are shelf stable until opened they make great stocking stuffers for the ingredient-conscious, vegan or dairy-free loves in your life. The set includes Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint Mocha and Dark Chocolate Orange creamers. What makes this the extra special gift is they can enjoy sipping the holiday flavors immediately!

59. Resistance Bands

I LOVE these resistance bands! I use them every week either at home or with my trainer. Resistance bands can be a great workout by themselves for all ages or be added to enhance other exercises like squats! These are a great gift for anyone looking to increase or switch up their exercise or someone who travels a lot and wants an easy way to bring the gym to their hotel room.

60. Blue Light Blockers

You know I love my blue light blockers! They significantly help improve your sleep health by reducing blue light entering your eyes from technology and other light sources which allows your body to begin producing melatonin so you can fall asleep and stay asleep. They also help reduce eye strain from staring at screens all day. Here is a pair that I personally own but there are many styles and colors out there! P.S. I feel these would be great for teenagers who are staying up doing homework or chatting with friends on their phone and computers. I remember being a teenager and staying up way to late over stimulated by my devices. Drop these cuties in their stockings for a stylish and healthy gift!

61. Books

Let us spend more time with our nose in a book and less time with it pointed at a screen. You know I’m partial to this one, but any will do.

62. Hubalou Hair Towel

Hablou hair towels have changed the health of my hair. Made of 100% bamboo they are softer and lighterwieght which means less tension and pulling on your hair and unless terrycloth they don’t pull or rip your end. They dry your hair super fast and leave ti feeling extra smooth. I use mine every time I wash my hair. I have the color Petal.

63. Dr. Brite Stain-B-Gone Teeth Whitening Pens

Dr. Brite is my go to for safer toothpase, mouthwash and teeth whitening! For my wine drinkers out there they just came out with this stain-b-gone pen with red wine and the holidays in mind. Check them out! Super cute hostess gift with a bottle of red. Or drop into someones stocking!

64. Safer Volumizing Mascara

My #1 mascara! Made with natural fibers, this advanced formula increases volume by 385% to create fuller, more dramatic-looking lashes–without clumping, flaking or smudging. Cleaner, plant-derived ingredients, like carnauba wax and rice bran wax, replace harmful emollients, while bataua oil helps soften lashes. Give the gift of safer beauty this year.

65. Stainless Steel EcoLunchbox

Great for kids or adults! Let’s ditch the plastic and make the switch to safer stainless steel lunch transportation. Get the family a matching set and reduce your plastic together!

66. Organic Wool Dryer Balls

Some of you originally connected with me because of my tutorials for making celery juice using just a blender and one of these hand dandy milking bags. They can help you make ANY juice form a blender - not just celery - and assist in making homemade nuts milks as well! A great stocking stuffer for someone in your life who wants to jump on the celery juice train or who wants to try their hand at homemade almond milk and avoid the fillers in most store bought varieties.

68. SQUEAK Safe Cleaning Supplies

use code POPOFHEALTH for 15% off

Cleaning supplies “so safe you could eat them”. These are the kinds of brand we need to support to see change, the kinds of products and ingredients we need to choose to create change. The majority of cleaning products on the market today contain toxic chemicals that end up in our lungs, tissues and blood and have been linked to severe health conditions such as infertility, cancer, respiratory issues, asthma, dermatitis and organ damage. I will be cleaning every inch of my home with Squeak - especially their Holiday All Purpose Spray that smells like the most perfect Holiday festivities.

69. Eco Friendly Makeup Blender Sponges

All the rage. But eco-friendly. These are the ones I use.

70. Safer Nail Polish by Sienna Byron Bay

All the colors you’re used to without the nasty chemicals. Current favorite is Stone but good luck trying to pick just one!

71. Gratitude Journal

I have shared a lot about my gratitude practice. Each night I write down three things in my notebook that I am grateful for. Sometimes they are profound sometimes they are dogs, coffee, slippers. No matter the list, the practice is what brings me great joy and content each night. It gives us the opportunity to reflect on and find in each day at least three things we can give thanks for and I really have found it live changing. Truth is, it can be any journal. I like these because you can have any special quote or name imprinted on them and they are a good price.

72. FitGlow Lipgloss Duo

You know I love my beautycounter but when it comes to my lip gloss collection FitGlow glosses take up the most space. They are a lip treatment and gloss in one with no nasty ingredients and NO stickiness! I love this special edition duo they released just for the holidays.

73. Reusable Linen Shopping Bags

I think these are SO classy. Made of Eco certified natural linen, these tote bags can make you and agent of change, dramatically reducing the waste created by disposable shopping bags and stores and markets.

74. Countertop Compost Bin

This may not actually fit in the stocking but I think it belongs in this section. Help encourage composting by gifting these stylish little countertop compost bins.

75. Transforming Duo Lip Set

It’s hard to list who this would be perfect for because the answer is everyone. In addition to everyone, I think this is a great safe lip gloss set for teenagers and tweens who want to experiment with makeup without chemicals or a heavy pigment. The perfect pairing for the individualist on your list. This universally flattering Transforming Lip Tint instantly delivers the ideal shade of sheer, customized pink color for each wearer and the Crystal Gloss provides shine for a flawless finish. Both are infused with a hint of natural vanilla.
